′Do not…′ signage

do not feed the birds signage

Ranging from critical to informative, there are many reasons why you may need to display clear directions to your staff and customers.

Legal requirements, often prefixed with “must or must not” are linked to criminal offences, whilst less serious consequences are guided with advisory wording such as ‘should/should not’ or ‘do/do not’.

In the workplace, we can increase our safety with mandatory, warning and caution signage. The Health & Safety Executive (UK) publish free guidance for employers, dutyholders and others who have responsibility for the control of workplaces, sites and premises. You can download a free copy of “Safety signs and signals. The Health and Safety Regulations 1996. Guidance on Regulations” from the HSE website.

But before we search for some artwork and print it out, it is really important to understand that often this should only be a temporary measure for immediate hazards whilst an appropriate sign is manufactured. Each sign needs to be robust, often weatherproof, wipeable and have the correct reflectivity levels.

So what’s the best way to get hold of correct prohibition “do not” sign? In our experience, it’s to contact our sales team, discuss your requirements and have your signage custom made. This takes the hassle out of finding a supplier with everything you need and avoids the need to carefully place lots of stickers! Simply tell us what you need and we can make the process easy and straightforward. We can include your logo, borders and any additional elements that you need. If you need screw holes, velcro or a self-standing sign, we can make it for you.
